Phoenix Fashion Week hosted its annual series of runway shows, on October 13 – 15 at Talking Stick Resort. Fourteen designers that were handpicked by Brian Hill, the creator of Phoenix Fashion Week.
Among those chosen to participate in Phoenix Fashion Week there where two African-Americans. Everyone was required to go through a four-month boot camp where they compete against each other in prospective categories. The conclusion of the completion was that each designer would will debut designs to all the attendees.
According to Hill, the three-day event included a variety of fashion-focused seminars taught by industry experts during the day. Each night Hill and the Phoenix Fashion Week team announced Lifestyle, Contemporary and Couture “Designer of the Year.”
Isy Obi from the Cayman Islands took home the lifestyle designer of the year from Phoenix Fashion Week for her Isy B line.
“My love for fashion was inherited from my mother who was also a fashion designer. While growing up I would play with fabrics in my mother’s atelier, designing clothes for myself, my sisters and dolls, I was inspired to one day to establish a fashion business of my own,” said Isy Obi.
The design consist of dresses that are light, elegant and specify made to keep women looking beautiful wile feeling comfortable in the heat.
All winners received the opportunity to market their collections on home shopping TV network EVINE in the spring of 2017.
